I am a Radical Feminist advocate passionate about improving public health outcomes and advocating for wellbeing of adolescent girls and young women .
My role as an SSLN champion in Kenya is to serve as an influencer and AGYW champion and apply learnings from other countries to strengthen the National HIV prevention response in Kenya
Dr. Hermes Gichane is a public health physician working as a Technical advisor to the HIV Prevention and the GBV and Human rights Sections in the National AIDS and STI Control Program. She also doubles as the Adolescents and Young People’s Program lead. With over a decade of experience, she has worked in leadership positions spanning sexual and reproductive health, maternal health, gender-based violence, and HIV program management. She also has extensive experience in clinical service, health service administration and policy review.
Dr. Hermes has developed program guidance materials on HIV and gender-based violence that informed the design and implementation of the programs. She has enhanced the quality of services for survivors, adolescents and young people through a nationwide service quality assessment, mentorship and capacity building of health workers. She has also mobilized resources to support a multimillion-dollar program. She is dedicated to improving health systems for women and young people.
