Transforming your evidence to action

i2i is the evidence to action arm of the SSLN

i2i was established as an offering to support countries to effectively use evidence to strengthen prevention policies and programmes

What is Evidence Utilisation?

Evidence utilisation can help us take the latest scientific knowledge and apply it to drive positive change. But what is evidence? Is it synonymous with data?

Let's explore the foundational conceptsthat underpin this proces‍

Utilisation is

Applied Health Research

Our Focus Areas

Our consultations have identified four essential areas of HIV programming and prevention. Each of these focus areas explores important questions to guide effective strategies and create meaningful change.

Country Strategy

This is what the evidence utilisation journey looks like with i2i.

Review & identify

We reviewed PSATs, country evidence and action plans and were able to identify four key topics where evidence gaps were identified.

Align with country needs

We will work with country champions to develop an evidence agenda that that outlines practical, actionable steps in line with your country strategy

Consolidate and synthesise

We will consolidate and synthesise the evidence into user-friendly formats like videos, guides, presentations, and infographics, making it easy to understand and apply

Support evidence utilisation

We offer a range of services to support evidence use:

  • Facilitating evidence-informed policy/programme dialogues
  • Data interpretation workshops
  • Capacity building, training and/or mentorship
  • Developing evidence application tools and frameworks
  • Virtual or in person evidence dissemination or exchange events

What are the next steps?

Country Team Evidence Agenda Prioritisation
Goal:

To identify and prioritise the top 4 evidence questions that will guide your country’s HIV prevention programmes and policies.

Process:

Prioritise Top 4 Questions: Collaboratively select the 4 most critical evidence questions impacting the Country’s HIV prevention efforts

Define the Country’s Ultimate Goal for the Evidence: Clearly articulate the desired impact or outcome of addressing each question and utilising the evidence.

State How the Evidence will Help Achieve Country Goals: Clearly express how the country envisions what the evidence could look like and how they plan to use the evidence to reach their desired outcome.

Focal Point for Each Evidence Question: Provide a name and contact information of the focal point for each question who can liaise with the team.

Outcome:

Four prioritised questions with clear utilisation goals, and a roadmap of activities to generate and apply evidence for impactful decision-making.
