SSLN | Link & Learn on Harare HIV Prevention Cascades

Pan-Prevention
Introduction

The Harare HIV Combination Prevention Cascades (HIV-CPC) are a crucial tool for enhancing the effectiveness of HIV prevention programs by identifying and addressing gaps in the use of prevention methods. By leveraging data from national population surveys, the Harare HIV-CPC provides vital insights that guide targeted interventions, particularly aimed at increasing the uptake of HIV prevention strategies. To date, meaningful implementation of HIV prevention cascades in Africa has faced challenges. A key step forward would involve encouraging countries in the region to advocate for the inclusion of Harare HIV-CPC elements in standard DHS and USAID survey modules. Zimbabwe has set a strong example in effectively utilising prevention cascades, and the case studies presented aim to inspire other countries to incorporate these strategies into their upcoming national surveys.
